I’m Karla, the Active Mums Trainer for the beautiful Tauranga/Mount Maunganui region. I’m a very lucky and proud mum to my two amazing children Tye & Maia. I’ve always been very active and into exercise and health and wellbeing, but since having children I see it as even more important for not only myself but for the whole family, including being a positive role model for them.
I’m a qualified personal trainer with a deep passion for exercise and health. My competitive sporting background in Netball and Touch Rugby as well as my enjoyment of Endurance Running meant I definitely wanted to stay active during my pregnancies but I wanted to adapt my ‘exercise’ so it was SAFE for my baby. This is what I love about what Active Mums offers! SAFE and ENJOYABLE exercise for pregnant mums as well as new mums.
I myself discovered Active Mums after having our first baby Tye. Active Mums gave me the support and opportunity to get back into exercise safely. It was the best thing I could’ve done for my son, my family and myself. I was back doing what made me happy and was able to include Tye in this, and at the same time meet other like minded mums, share ideas/worries/experiences and build friendships, whilst having ‘ME” time. Active Mums meant I could do something for myself while keeping Tye by my side!
I feel so blessed to be doing something I truly love and help other mums like me keep fit and achieve their goals. I believe that being fit and healthy, while having fun creates an overall positive wellbeing which is the perfect combination for motherhood.

Groups in Action Advanced Postnatal - 1 hr class for Mums, varies each session from circuit to boot camp style workouts, sometimes will even involve Metafit (see below for description).
